Said in the accent of Forest Gump “I just felt like cycling…”
So here it is, finally a place for me to record and save all my cycling and triathlon experiences to date.
A little bit about me…
I wouldn’t say i am the fittest athlete out there, i just enjoy keeping fit and not having to worry too much about the diet along the way. I’d probably say i am a jack of all trades, others may call it all the gear no idea. I play and participate in multiple sports, whether it be squash, football, rugby, cycling, running, triathlons or even the odd morning on a golf course. I just love being outdoors, active and seeing my friends.
My friends may say i have too many bikes and that you can only ride 1 at a time. Although there is an element of truth in that statement, its nice to upgrade once in a while, and surely everyone needs a fat wheel bike to pop to the shops on don’t they!?
As you get older in life you tend to change your sporting habits, long gone are the weekends of rugby and football on Saturday’s and Sunday’s. They have now turned into lycra wearing hours on a saddle, heading to different coffee and cake shops!
I could also categorically say, with confidence, that i probably have the largest selection of training kit known to man!
As for my blog beginning…
It all started back in 2010 when i set about cycling over 3000km from England to Spain, something that had been on my mind since i purchased my first road bike. After competing in a few triathlons and getting the bug for cycling i wanted to do something in order to raise money for charity. Along with raising money for charity, somewhat £4000, i needed a way of keeping followers updated with progress as i solo cycled through 3 countries. The birth of my first blog Long Ride South. Keeping the language very “me” much to the amusement of my brother, i thoroughly enjoyed writing and it kept my mind busy during the 31 day trip.
Adding a further 600+ miles to my European tour when i cycled from Venice to Dubrovnik a few years back with the Dawnay Raiders. I was designated media man for the trip keeping track of the lady train and king of the hill trophy!
You will also be able to read about my experiences travelling to the USA in order to complete the NYC Triathlon and infamous Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon.
JOGLE 2018 saw me solo cycle (with a support team) the length of Britain in just 7 days.
Some disappointments along the way with a DNF against my name at the Alpe D’Huez Triathlon, probably the hardest cycle ever!
Last year saw me complete The Roc Tri, probably the hardest thing i have EVER done from a physical perspective!
So that’s me…i hope you enjoy.
