Just treated myself to a tiny bit of a lay in. Have only got 40 miles to do today to get me back into the swing of things. Yesterday was a full on rest day, I spent the majority of the time at the beach, having a little snooze and then reading some of my book. Weather wasn’t the greatest to start with, very cloudy as had rained over night. Also very windy which made it feel colder than it was. After a few hours on the beach I met a new friend in the the jellyfish that is below. Never seen one washed up like this before, and didn’t fancy getting stung by it, as trying to ask a French person to urinate on the sting wouldn’t have been the easiest of tasks.
You could also see Fort Boyard in the distance, not come out that clear in photos so haven’t added one. It was built by the army to protect the shores, but I remember it more so for Melinda Messenger’s game show!
Then left the beach and headed back, the 40 minute walk isn’t really what you want on a rest day. Then I cleaned my bike and gave it a good old soak in some GT85, thats lubrication for those of you non bikers reading this!
Had some dinner and then settled down to watch a film. Didn’t get the early night I wanted but it didn’t matter as didn’t have to rush to get up this morning. So just getting my stuff together now for the little ride to Saintes, before an early night and early rise to get to Bordeaux tomorrow.
